NEWCASTLE indie-rockers The Seabellies will swap the Triple J airwaves for video stardom this weekend when they compete in The Shoot Out 24 Hour Filmmaking Festival.
The band will be featured in an entry by Blue Mountains filmmakers Matt Woodham and Mouna Stone. It is the second year the band has worked with the filmmakers for the festival, with the team winning last year's gong for their "mockumentary" The Percussionist, about the trials and tribulations of being in a high-school band. The Seabellies frontman Trent Grenell said it was the fourth time he participated in the event."Shoot Out is so much fun. It's good to do something a bit different to what we normally do all the time as a band," he said."I did filmmaking at uni, so it's great fun to be on the other side of the camera. It was cool last year to make a film that made fun of your own band."Mr Grenell said this year's entry would be "tongue in cheek incorporating Australian hip-hop culture".The festival, which begins tonight, is in its ninth year. Participants create a seven-minute short film in 24 hours containing five local landmarks, unveiled on the first day of the competition.
